Bring the Amazing Faiths Project
to your City or Region
The Amazing Faiths Project is based in Houston, Texas where it was created and first piloted. However, the Project has now spread to other cities across North America and will soon make its way onto other continents. When people see the simplicity and the impact of the dinner dialogues, and the way the relationships forged there bring new life to existing interfaith and service activities in their areas, they want to bring the Project to their city.
The Amazing Faiths Project is designed to be co-operated by two or more organizations. Individuals alone cannot produce this project. In authorizing cities or regions to produce the project, the staff of the AFP central office in Houston look for organizations with a clear commitment to interfaith dialogue and to peaceful coexistence among people of different religions, and an unabridged openness to people of all faiths and no faiths. The AFP is a faith-neutral project which is open to all people regardless of their participation in or affiliation with a faith community.
Moreover, organizations need to be willing to work together in producing not only the dinner dialogue, the cornerstone event of the Project, but also in coordinating other activities and events in your area throughout the year. For example, the principal organizations who produce the AFP in Houston work together to not only produce the dinner dialogue every year for both youth and adults, but also to offer faith tours of sacred sites in Houston, spiritual gatherings for women, and public world religions classes.
The AFP central office in Houston provides key support for those organizations that sponsor the Project in their areas. This includes:
- advertising the dinner dialogue and registering both hosts and guests on the main website;
- sorting their registrants into groups using our computerized program;
- training moderators via conference call and support documents;
- providing dialogue card packets and materials templates necessary for the production of the dinner dialogue
- inclusion in any national media recognition where appropriate
- ongoing troubleshooting during dinner dialogue production
Sponsoring organizations are responsible for advertising, choosing moderators, working with local communities and faith leaders to generate enthusiasm for the project and to garner participation from under-represented faith communities in order to provide as much diversity as possible in the dinner dialogues and other activities of the project.
